In the fall of 1934 the first students entered Holy
Rosary School in Duryea, PA. The brand new building had seven classrooms,
an office, a gymnasium/auditorium with a well appointed stage area, and a
cafeteria. In the spring of 1935 the first students graduated, and for
over Seventy-five years, that process has continued year after year with the charism
and presence of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters, dedicated lay women and men,
parishioners, families and friends all working together to spread the Good News
of our Catholic Faith, and to ensure the best possible education for the leaders
of the future.
We are grateful for
the un-estimable gift of the four Pastors and countless Parishioners of Holy
Rosary Church who have built and preserved this institution with loving
generosity, and who continue their support even today.
We remember the hundreds of families and
friends who have sacrificed to provide a Catholic Education for nearly 2,000
students over the last three quarters of a century.
Think of the students, past, present, and future who
have made and will continue to make this school come alive - from the
dream of one pastor,
to a community of life long learners rooted in the Catholic faith.
